Residents cooperate to pave the street

Residents of Griya Adi Jongkang housing estate cooperated to pave the street in their area on Sunday morning. Approximately 18 men teamed up to cover the holes on the road.

"We paved the street due to a lot of concerns regarding the holes on the road. Many children bike in this area, and it may be dangerous for them," said Winarno, one of the residents, after paving the street.

Winarno said that the intention was also to strengthen the kinship in their neighborhood. Therefore, while the men paved the street, the women took part in cooking meals.

Despite the COVID 19 pandemic, the residents remained enthusiastic in carrying out the work. They didn't forget to follow the health protocols by wearing masks, washing their hands, and maintaining physical distancing.

The residents started to work at 8 a.m and ended at 1 p.m. The men cleaned the road from garbages, and then they covered the holes with gravels. As the finishing, they cast the road with cement.

"After everything has done, we took a rest and gathered to eat meals together. It was perfect having Soto after the tiring work," Winarno stated.
